What You Should Know

Before reading the full policy, here are the five things that matter most.

We never sell your data

Your personal information is never sold, rented, or traded to advertisers or data brokers under any circumstance.

Everything is stored securely

Data is protected using encryption and industry-standard access controls, both in transit and at rest.

Reporter identity stays private

When you file a scam report, your name, email, and contact details are never disclosed to the public or the reported party.

Used to prevent fraud — not profit from it

Information is used internally to verify reports, investigate fraud patterns, and protect the community.

You control your data

You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information at any time.

Information We Collect

TrustCheck BD collects information to deliver a reliable and safe scam reporting service. We collect only what we genuinely need to fulfil that mission.

Information you provide directly

  • Your name, email address, and phone number when submitting a report or contacting us
  • Scam report details — incident description, financial loss, date, and platform involved
  • Evidence files such as screenshots, images, or documents uploaded to support a report
  • Messages sent through our contact form or support request system

Information collected automatically

  • IP address, browser type, and operating system
  • Device information and approximate geographic location (country or city level — not precise GPS)
  • Pages visited, links clicked, and time spent on our platform
  • Referring website and exit page
  • Search queries entered within TrustCheck BD

How We Use Information

We use your information strictly to fulfil TrustCheck BD's mission: helping people in Bangladesh identify and avoid digital scams. Here is exactly what that means in practice.

  • Reviewing, verifying, and processing submitted scam reports
  • Contacting you with updates about your report or support request
  • Investigating fraud patterns and emerging digital threats in Bangladesh
  • Improving platform features and resolving technical issues
  • Detecting and preventing abuse, spam, or false reporting
  • Meeting legal and regulatory obligations when required by law

We do not sell, license, or share your personal information with advertisers, data brokers, or marketing platforms. Full stop.

Reporting Information

When you submit a scam report to TrustCheck BD, here is what happens at each stage.

  • Every report is reviewed by our verification team before any details are published
  • If approved, general report details — such as the scammer's name, incident type, and location — may be made publicly visible to protect others
  • Your name, email, phone number, and any other personal identifiers are never included in the public listing
  • Your identity as the reporter is not shared with the reported party or any third party under any circumstances
  • Reports found to contain false, misleading, or unsubstantiated information may be corrected, hidden, or removed following investigation

Contact Information

When you get in touch with TrustCheck BD through our contact form, email, or support system, we collect the following.

  • Your name and email address
  • The subject and full content of your message
  • Any attachments or files you choose to include

This information is used only to respond to your inquiry, process your request, or investigate a concern. It is not shared with third parties for any other purpose.

Cookies & Tracking

TrustCheck BD uses a limited and purposeful set of browser technologies to operate the platform and understand how it is used.

Essential cookies

  • Required for core platform functionality, secure sessions, and navigation
  • Cannot be disabled without breaking important features of the platform

Security cookies

  • Used to detect automated bots, prevent fraudulent submissions, and protect the platform from abuse

Analytics

  • We use privacy-respecting analytics to understand which pages are visited and how users navigate the platform
  • Analytics data is aggregated and anonymous — it cannot identify individual users

We do not use advertising cookies, cross-site tracking pixels, or social media monitoring technologies.

Data Retention

We retain personal information only as long as necessary for the purposes described in this policy.

  • Scam report data is retained as long as the report is active, or for up to three years after deactivation
  • Contact and support messages are kept for up to two years for accountability and quality purposes
  • Automatically collected technical data — including logs and IP addresses — is retained for up to 90 days
  • If you submit a deletion request, your personal data will be removed within 30 days, subject to any legal retention obligations

Security Measures

Protecting the information you share with us is a responsibility we take seriously. We apply multiple layers of security to keep your data safe.

  • All data transmitted between your browser and our servers is encrypted using HTTPS/TLS
  • Personal information stored in our systems is encrypted at rest
  • Access to personal data is restricted to authorized team members on a strict need-to-know basis
  • Our infrastructure is monitored continuously for unusual activity and potential security incidents
  • We perform periodic security reviews to identify and address vulnerabilities before they become risks
  • Uploaded evidence files are stored in secure, access-controlled cloud storage environments

Third Party Services

To operate and maintain TrustCheck BD, we work with a small number of trusted service providers. These providers process some data on our behalf and are bound by data protection obligations.

Cloud hosting

  • Our platform and database are hosted on a reputable cloud infrastructure provider with strong security certifications

File storage

  • Evidence files uploaded to our platform are stored through a secure third-party file storage service with access controls and encryption

Email delivery

  • We use a transactional email service to send report status updates, support responses, and system notifications

Analytics

  • We use a privacy-focused analytics platform to understand how people use TrustCheck BD — without tracking individuals or building advertising profiles

All third-party providers are selected based on their security practices and privacy commitments. They are not authorized to use your data for their own commercial purposes.
